Apurva Purohit speaks about the expectations from a leader and how women leaders are best positioned to deal with challenges at the workplace.

In this episode of #LeadershipTalks, host Sukirti Gupta speaks with Businesswoman, Independent Director, Author and Leadership Expert, Apurva Purohit.

Apurva is a leading voice advocating gender diversity in the Indian business landscape and has authored a national bestseller titled Lady You’re Not a Man.  Then she launched her second book titled, Lady, You’re the Boss!

Lady, You’re the Boss’ draws from Apurva Purohit’s personal experiences, and reveals how women minimise themselves, suffer from the imposter syndrome, and settle for less. In this episode, she talks about The Expectations From A Leader During Crisis & How Women Leaders Are Best Positioned To Deal With it.

Women experience self-doubt and imposter syndrome in the workplace. Get rid of that imposter who is making you doubt your worth!

Women often undervalue themselves and minimize their strengths. That needs to stop. Furthermore, Apurva believes that women need to stand up and recognize their strengths, claim their strengths, and play by their strengths. Don’t allow the world to tell you what you can not do.

And remember that a woman can be everything she wishes to be. Own your life, and take control of your own choices. Don’t let your partner, your parents or anybody else dictate your choices. A lot of women experience self-doubt and imposter syndrome in the workplace. Apurva tells them to get rid of that imposter who is making them doubt their worth.

Takeaways From Apurva Purohit:

    1. Women lack self-confidence and constantly question their capabilities. They tend to maximise our mistakes and minimise our strengths. This needs to stop. Get rid of the voice that is telling you that you are not enough!
    2. More women are needed in leadership roles to ensure that more women are hired across verticals and ranks at organisations.
    3. Stop trying to please everyone. You will have to make some tough calls as a leader.  Women often fail because they need to be liked. Then, they have to choose between being liked and being ambitious.
